Hi there,

I’m Shellie Crow, E-RYT 500, YACEP.

I’d like to share a bit about myself with you and why I do the work I do. In 2008, I became a certified yoga teacher. Over the years I deepened my study and my practice by exploring topics related to yoga such as astrology, the subtle body (the chakras, koshas, etc.), yogic philosophy and mythology, ethical living from a yogic perspective, and devotional yoga practices. I also delved into topics of concerns specific to being a thin, white, female yoga teacher in the western world: cultural appropriation, yoga and feminism, yoga and intersectionality, accessibility of yoga for ALL communities, trauma awareness for yoga teachers, and more.

In 2016, my health mysteriously and steadily began to decline. I was unable to eat, rapidly losing weight, and no longer had the strength to do the asana practice, the practice of yoga poses that is what most westerners think of when they think of yoga. By 2019 I had given up teaching most of my regular yoga classes.

My illness progressed and reached its height in August 2020 when I began working with an amazing nurse practitioner who really listened to me and addressed my healthcare needs as a human being, and not as a statistic or profile in a medical study. That winter I began incorporating essential oils into my daily regimen. Things slowly but surely began to positively shift as my physical and mental healing journey merged with a deepening of my spiritual practice. Yoga and astrology gave me a way of understanding myself and the challenges I was facing on a deeper, more intrinsic level.

I would not be where I am today without the guidance of an excellent therapist, my incredible N.P. who teaches and believes in a wholistic approach to treating disease, and to the self-awareness and personal empowerment I gained through yoga and astrology. These practices have given me the tools to live well and with joy, even as I face the day-to-day challenges of chronic illness.

Your journey towards health and healing may involve working with doctors, therapists, and other healthcare professionals. However, the most important piece of the puzzle we call health is YOU! In our work together, you will get to know yourself and appreciate your body in an entirely new way. Your body communicates with you through sensation. Your soul speaks through the stars. As you learn to deeply listen to yourself, body and soul, and discern their messages, we will design personalized self-care and daily spiritual practices to help you live optimally and with joy.

I would love to hear about your journey and discuss how we can work together in order for you to take your next step. We begin with a complimentary wellness consultation. I look forward to getting to know you!

Love,
Shellie
